So here’s a video of some competition spying I did as an example of I don’t know everything and can always get new ideas by looking at what others are doing EVEN if it’s not in my own niche:

Earlier today, I also:

1. Posted a second time to the blogger blog, pinged it on Google, Pingoat, and Pingomatic
2. Bookmarked the blog post
3. Pinged the bookmarks & RSS Feeds
4. A friend bookmarked the two previous blog posts on this blog, and pinged the bookmarks
5. Recorded videos to post to You Tube and through Tube Mogul either today or tomorrow
5. Posted all the videos you see on this blog to the corresponding You Tube Account
6. Pinged the RSS Feed to the You Tube Account after all videos were uploaded

7. Got tired of looking for how to grab the RSS feed to the You Tube account, so I used this service to do what I needed it to:

8. Checked out the #imremarkable hashtag on search.twitter.com and connected with other people participating in the IM Remarkable competition to be social

Tomorrow, I’m going to build out web 2.0 sites, one ring around the blogger blog and using some info I gathered from the reconnaissance mission as referenced in the video above.

I will also get involved in the bookmarking communities and bookmark other people’s quit smoking content.

Then it’ll be over to the web two communities to get even more social and connect with them on their quit smoking content. It’s not just about me, it’s about connecting with everyone, and connecting people to other people in an effort to get the word out to those who really want what we’re creating.

Also on the list of things to get R’ done is to send out a press release using a different strategy than I see most people use on the web.

Stay tuned to discover this strategy as you’ll absolutely kill it changing the game with this PR strategy.

but hurry up because the IMRemarkable competition only runs through July 9, 2009 at midnight. You have a chance to roll up in style to a workshop Howie is putting on all accomodations taken care of by the business builder (not a hobbyist) himself: Howie Schwartz.

We had to choose a niche out of a PDF Howie gave out containing 36 niches he has researched over time. The PDF also shows different strategies and marketing angles for various markets.

I chose the “Quit Smoking” niche because a few people close to me smoke, so it’s a topic that’s near to me. Maybe if they read the posts and/or find my content on the net’ it will help them to quit smoking, too. I used to smoke in the Marine Corps and have since quit and my lungs are definitely celebrating because it no longer feels like a midget is sitting on my chest.

I promise to post videos going forward to make it easier to see what I’m actually doing.

So what did I do so far?

1. Set up a blogger blog at Quit Smoking Hypnosis

2. Set up a twitter account at http://www.Twitter.com/thequitsmoking

3. Added the Twitter RSS Feed to the blogger blog

4. Set up a Gmail account especially for this project at quitsmokinghypnosistips at gmail dot com

5. Created this post to document my journey to help other smart marketers just like you follow my path to success.

6. Posted the first post to the blogger blog

7. Pinged the blogger blog in Google blogsearch

8. Pinged the blogger blog in Pingoat.com

9. Added the “RSS Feed Subscription” gadget to the blogger blog

10. Linked to http://www.IMRemarkable.com on blogger blog

11. Copied and pasted the list of social bookmarking sites from socialmarker.com so I can sign up for each site to have even more distribution channels for my content

From what I remember in Howie’s free training, he says to do a full promotion for one keyword, so I’m starting with the “Quit Smoking Hypnosis” keyword since we only have 9 days.

I chose this keyword because I am an affiliate for Wendi.com and I remember one of her products is exactly that = quit smoking with hypnosis.

I’m not overthinking this one, I’m going with it since it’s the first idea that popped into my head. Overthinking it would cause me to still be thinking about it after July 9, 2009, and missing out on even participating in the IMRemarkable competition.

UPDATE July 4th, 2009: since I didn’t post the screen shots for my initial google research, here they are:

This first google screenshot reflects ppc competition, of which there were multiple pages of ppc ads. We see local search by PowerHypnosisChicago.com, along with other ppc ads containing the city of Chicago, IL on the right hand side of the page.

We also see two videos ranking on the first page for “Quit Smoking Hypnosis” from You Tube and Meta Cafe.

More google results with an additional keyword of  “Smoking Cessation Hypnosis” to write down in the business journal.

This is the second page of google results, and the 4th entry on page two is an article from Ezine Articles.com, which also goes in the business journal as a targeted content distribution channel.
